Originally broadcasting as Graham R around 20 years ago as a bedroom and pub DJ, Graham met up with a old school friend Master Magri. While Charlie was on Shine Graham was wondering how to move to the next step. There was no chance a brand new dj was going to land a show on Shine so Graham continued playing at pubs in North and East London.
Some months later Graham met Nicky G, they secured a slot on Touch FM. They stayed on Touch for sometime and Graham explans his first experience, “I remember meeting with the owners along Hackney Road and being taken to the Touch studio, i didnt know what to expect. The studio was in an abandond flat and i remember the speakers were really quite”. Graham then moved onto Subjam FM where he fell in love with 2step and UKG. From here he started playing in clubs, he met BeeQ and started working for Sam Supplier. This is when Graham landed club residencies and had bookings every weekend.
Graham then made the move to Rinse FM where he got involved in the technical side of radio. He did the Rinse breakfast show, Monday to Friday and then came the big change. True FM was born, Graham become a vital role of the station, he held multiple slots on the station and played at major events.
From True Graham started to travel abroad DJing at some of the best clubs across the world.
Graham would continue to DJ many summers in Greece, while True took the radio industry by storm, Graham then decided for the family life, sold all of his equipment, changed his number and stopped everything.
Some 5 years went by and Graham missed it all so much he went and brought a controller mixer and started messing about again at home. Technology had moved on so fast from what he was used to! He started doing shows on Vision Radio before stopping again due to work commitments.
Then came Shine! And a name change to Its Graham as Graham R felt old. A place were he has held the Thursday Drive Show for 2 years and a place to stay. This industry is hard, if its radio you want to get into, practice! Radio isnt about mixing / cutting / scratching. Its about the listener, in a club you can hype the crowed by the mix or tunes you play. Radio has changed over the years and if you was me it is for the best. If this is something you want to then then keep going, the hard work will pay off. You put in what you want to get out.
Looking back, Graham wouldnt change anything, he wants to thank all the stations and people he has worked with over the years.
